Our universities and colleges annually spend in excess of $2 billion in R&D. Research is the backbone of the Georgia Tech Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering, which spent more than $152 million in FY16 on R&D expenditures. During the 1960's, Camden County Georgia was one of the finalists in NASA's search for a potential launch site. NASA later tested rockets there.
